Atlanta Humane Society and Albion Teaming Up For New Headquarters
Albion is thrilled to announce our partnership with the Atlanta Humane Society. We are honored to be their chosen Program Manager for their new Atlanta headquarters. AHS will be moving from their Howell Mill location to a new location on Perry Boulevard. There are just two miles between the existing location and the new location.
AHS purchased a $3.5 million piece of land for the new campus. Through the purchase, they have doubled the size of their current property, thus adding much more space for future growth. The purchase earned the Land Deal of the Year in the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s 2020 Best in Atlanta Real Estate Awards.
The search for a new site started in June 2018 and was finalized in September 2019. The site at Perry Boulevard and Marietta Road was chosen due to its size and potential to benefit the organization and the city.
The land is a Brownfield site that we are remediating. In urban planning, ‘brownfield land’ is any previously developed land that is not currently in use, and the term is also used to describe land previously used for industrial or commercial purposes that may be previously contaminated.
Albion Executive Vice President and Co-Owner, Brian Newsome, had this to say about the project and how it will benefit the Atlanta Humane Society: “AHS has been at their existing location for over 110 years! They have outgrown this location. This new facility will allow them to continue to provide state of the art animal care.”
The remediation will begin at the end of this month and take approximately two months. Design, which is being done by Croft and Associates, began in February and will be done by September 30, 2020. More details will be forthcoming.
We are thrilled to be a part of this great project and look forward to sharing more details in the nearby future!
