UNG Observatory Replacement Coming Along

You may remember from this post from the fall that highlighted an exciting project with Warren Epstein and Associates at the University of North Georgia.

We are replacing the existing Observatory on the Dahlonega campus. The existing Observatory was a facility utilized for astronomy instructional labs, undergraduate and faculty research, joint research projects with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and community outreach through public viewing.

According to the University, the structure had reached the end of its life cycle and desired to have it replaced and completed in time for Fall 2020 classes.

Currently, we are finishing up the exterior facade of the building. Roofing will be complete this week, and we have finished the Dome Support rings in preparation to receive the Observatory Domes. They will be coming in May, and we are excited to share the end result with you all!
