Around Albion – An Update

It’s been a little while since we’ve updated our blog, but we hope that each and every one of you enjoyed the holiday season and your 2018 is off to a great start. We are excited about the way 2017 ended and excited for all that is on the horizon for Albion in 2018.

2017 was exciting for us because we launched our re-brand and new website. We made a few additions to our office team in addition to out in the field. Additionally, we attended a few events including the GASFA Fall Conference and and AGC Georgia’s Fall Leadership Conference. Most importantly, however, we started and finished multiple projects including the Atlanta Motorsports Park Kart Racing Centre and the Columbus Technical College Pratt and Whitney Quick Start Training Center, which we talk about here.

To start out 2018, we are busy at work in Atlanta and surrounding cities. We’re finishing up the renovation of the Ceramics Lab at Augusta University. The building was built in 1941, and the most recent renovations were done in 1999. The historic building previously served as a warehouse. Now, the Art and Physics departments have a unique space with new plumbing, electrical system, and expanded HVAC system.  This was our first project for Augusta University, and we are looking forward to completing more projects with them.

Additionally, we are just about finished with our state-of-the-art training center at Columbus Technical College. The building, the Pratt & Whitney/Quick Start Training Facility, is going to be used for Pratt & Whitney’s new hires. The employees will begin their on-boarding process at this very building. After they are on-boarded, they will move into their specific training paths provided by Quick Start. Onsite management and other necessary training is provided by Pratt & Whitney. It was an exciting project to be a part of and will benefit so many as more than 500 jobs will be created over the next five years.

We are also busy at work in Dawsonville at the Atlanta Motorsports Park. The new Kart Racing Centre project includes the construction of a state-of-the-art new building. This world class building will include a kart retail and service center, viewing deck, covered pit lane area, entertainment space and members’ lounge as well as a café and dedicated meeting suites.

Albion is also finishing up projects in Cobb County and Alpharetta, Georgia. The renovation and expansion of the North Cobb Senior Center in Acworth, Georgia is almost complete. In Alpharetta, we added a new 11,000-square foot science lab addition to Georgia State’s campus. The new building connects to the existing building. It contains biology teaching labs on the first floor and chemistry teaching labs on the second floor. Interior offices and restrooms were also added. Laboratories and lab prep rooms now exist on both floors.

We are looking forward to sharing more company news and project updates as we settle into the new year!
