Description

The project scope included the transformation of an existing auto body shop into a Coptic Orthodox Church. Albion teamed up with CDH Partners to give the building a complete face-lift, making the existing structure unrecognizable. By forming a collaborative partnership during the preconstruction phase, we ensured that the conversion of a utilitarian industrial space into a place of worship proceeded smoothly, maintaining budget, and resulting in a place of worship that will inspire and uplift the congregation while preserving the building’s historical significance. The vision for this adaptive re-use project aimed to maintain most of the existing structure, including the high ceilings, and steel trusses, and incorporating them into the new design. The open floor plan included a sanctuary, administrative offices, classrooms, and a gathering area. The architectural design incorporated Coptic Orthodox design principles, with a focus on intricate patterns, iconography, and a color palette that reflected the rich tradition of the faith.
