The goal is to ensure these facilities function and perform as intended and remain in good operating condition. The area to be replaced is approximately 1,500,000 total square feet of combined surface area. This project consists of the removal and demolition of the existing roof and insulation down to the metal decking, installation of R-20 polyisocyanates insulation and fully adhered polyester reinforced 80-mil thick KEE modified PVC membrane with a low VOC adhesive system, installation of new 24-gauge Kynar finished steel copings, walkways, walk pads to all rooftop equipment, disconnect and reconnect equipment as required to perform work and meet code and roof manufacturer requirements.

- [Modular Construction – What is it?](https://albiongc.com/what-is-modular-construction/): With the start of the new year, I was curious as to what the predictions
were (and are) for our industry in the year 2019. After a bit of research, I
was intrigued by an
article discussing “Modular Construction.” While I hadn’t necessarily heard
the exact term thrown around the office (remember, I’m in my own marketing
world for a good part of the week), I have heard its counterpart ‘prefabricated
construction’ quite a bit. I had even written about our use of the method but
was interested when I read the ‘why’ behind it. Here are some of my findings: Modular
Construction Trends Modular construction, also known as prefabricated construction, is
a type of construction in which prefabricated sections of structures are built at
off-site facilities. These sections are then transported to the jobsite where
they are used for assembly. Not only does this help to drastically speed
construction time, but the lightweight materials used reduce cost and
environmental impact. It’s no wonder this will continue to be trend in construction
today. The benefits don’t just end there, however. It’s a flexible and
versatile model in which clients can customize structures based on their needs –
whether that’s office buildings, restrooms, homes, to name a few. From the
article: Several studies show that the modular construction market
will rise in the coming years. In 2017, Markets and Markets showed a $106.15
billion value in the modular construction market. They projected that this
value will reach $157.19 billion by 2023, forecasting a compound annual growth
rate of 6.9%. Rising construction costs and increased construction activity combined
with a mass effort toward environmentally friendly construction practices are contributing
factors to the rise in modular construction. The article
mentioned above states that the most significant influences on the shift to
modular construction is the “demand for new housing units and increased
investment in the infrastructure sector.” The author does mention a few challenges including overcoming a
negative perception and the general learning curve that comes with a new
technique. However, the cost-effective, environmentally friendly trend will surely
continue to take off as the industry continues to boom.
- [Albion Completes State-of-the-Art Kart Racing Centre at AMP](https://albiongc.com/amp-kart-racing-centre/): Albion recently complete a state-of-the-art, new Kart Racing Centre for Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville, Georgia. This world class building includes a kart retail and service center, viewing deck, covered pit lane area, entertainment space and members’ lounge. Additionally, there is a cafe and meeting suites. The multi-million dollar facility has a wrap around deck with a unique viewing space. The new facility allows racers to hang out in the climate-controlled rooms as well as getting staged in their karts pre-race. With the addition of this new facility, Atlanta Motorsports Park offers a next-level experience both on and off the track.

- [City of Douglasville Conference Center](https://albiongc.com/project/douglasville-conference-center-2/): Albion General Contractors, in partnership with CROFT & Associates, delivered this Design-Build renovation of the Douglasville Conference Center to better serve the city’s growing event and community needs. The project modernized the facility and created an updated venue ready to support everything from public meetings to large gatherings.
- [GA Department of Defense Jackson Readiness Center](https://albiongc.com/project/jackson-readiness-center/): Albion partnered with the Georgia Department of Defense in August 2023 to provide a renovation of an existing 13,026 SF building along with the addition of a 3,200 sq.ft. preengineered metal building used as a multipurpose building. The renovation was broken down into four parts, A, B, C and D. Areas A and B included a renovation of a conference room, male and female latrines, a kitchen, mothers room and storage. Areas C and D included a renovation of individual offices, storage and additional work areas, The new construction of the preengineered metal building will be used as a multipurpose training building with both multipurpose room and offices and storage areas.The additional scope of work also called for sitework: grading, asphalt, paving valley gutters, highway guardrails. The campuses Drill Hall underwent a revamp of HVAC units as well as installation of infrared heaters.
- [GDPS New Helicopter Hangar](https://albiongc.com/project/gdps-helicopter-hangar/): Albion, along with Design Firm Toland-Mizzell was selected as the firm to provide Design-Build services to the Georgia Department of Public Safety (DPS) for the design and construction of a four-bay helicopter hangar on the campus of the Public Safety Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. The new pre-engineered metal building encompasses approximately 9,750 SF of space on an approximately 17,580 square foot project site. The new structure provides support spaces including offices and living quarters for the DPS’s helicopter crew and hangar space for four aircrafts. The hangar encompasses approximately 75’ x 100’ of open floor space.
- [Forsyth County Denmark Library](https://albiongc.com/project/forsyth-county-denmark-library/): When Albion was selected as the General Contractor for the construction of the new Forsyth County Library, Forsyth County had four branches at that time; the new Denmark Library would be its fifth.
- [Fulton County MLK Library](https://albiongc.com/project/fulton-county-mlk-library/): Albion, along with design partner, McMiIlan, Pazdan, Smith Architecture, Inc. were selected to provide design-build services to the existing 4,100 SF building. These renovations included new HVAC equipment throughout the building and updated ADA compliance in all accessible locations. The renovation also provided brand-new finishes as an added refresh. Our team also included the addition of new library technology that offered self-check out devices, Wi-Fi networking and public computers that will welcome the community to new modern updates to be enjoyed for years to come!
- [Fulton County East Point Library](https://albiongc.com/project/fulton-county-east-point-library/): McMillan, Pazdan, Smith Architecture, Inc., was selected to provide design-build services for the East Point Library in Atlanta, Georgia. Our team undertook a project that included an 1,820 sq. ft. expansion of the library. This expansion added another 864 sq. ft. of flexible space designated as a Maker Space.
- [Clayton County Fire Station No. 9](https://albiongc.com/project/clayton-county-firestation-no-9/): Albion was selected to construct Clayton County Fire Station #9 as part of the county’s continued investment in public safety infrastructure. In partnership with Pond & Company, this new facility was delivered through a Design-Bid-Build approach and totals 9,494 square feet. The station includes ten individual sleeping quarters, a fully equipped kitchen, and an exercise room to support day-to-day operations and staff wellness. Two apparatus bays are designed to accommodate emergency vehicles with adjacent clean rooms and dedicated gear storage to support rapid response and decontamination efforts.
- [Clayton County Sector No. 2 Police Precinct](https://albiongc.com/project/clayton-county-police-precinct/): Sector 2 serves the busiest business and residential areas of the county and is adjacent to the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. Designed by Pond, this facility was designed specifically with building/site security and force protection in mind. The new facility includes solid exterior wall construction with secure areas for interaction with the public. The facility is equipped with emergency generator backup of critical systems, including light, power, communications and HVAC. Program spaces include offices for the Watch Commander, command staff officers, sergeants and certain specially assigned uniform patrol officers. All operational areas are separated from public access by secure walls, door and windows and have an access control, key-card only entry system.
- [Cobb County Switzer Library](https://albiongc.com/project/cobb-county-switzer-library/): Albion provided full preconstruction and construction management services for the renovation and expansion of Switzer Library, a prominent public facility in downtown Marietta. Partnering with Clark Patterson Lee and library design specialist 720 Design, Albion helped reimagine the 30-year-old library into a more inclusive, functional, and technology-forward civic hub.
- [Fulton County Hapeville Library](https://albiongc.com/project/fulton-county-hapeville-library/): Albion and design partner, McMillan Pazdan Smith, were selected as the Design-Build team for the design and construction of Fulton County’s new Hapeville Library. The project is part of Fulton County’s Facility Master Plan to renovate and construct 34 libraries. The Hapeville project required pre-design, design, pre-construction, and construction. The 5,673 SF library project included: developing a staging, adding a new mid-sized parking lot, climate controlled storage, and phasing plan in conjunction with the overall project schedule. Additionally, the project required moving, storing, and reinstalling the existing collections for the Hapeville Library in coordination with library staff.
- [Clayton County Northwest Branch Library](https://albiongc.com/project/clayton-county-northwest-branch-library/): The Clayton County Library System comprises six libraries located throughout the county, offering a total of 2,992 library programs and over half a million books. Albion has been selected to build the seventh library, the N.W. Branch Library. This new facility, which spans over 20,000 square feet, provides Clayton County residents with the opportunity to enrich their lives through access to an extensive collection of books, media, and more.
- [Cobb County Stormwater Management Office Conversion](https://albiongc.com/project/cobb-county-stormwater-management-office-conversion/): Albion, in collaboration with the design firm LDDBlueline (formerly known as Lyman, Davidson Dooley, Inc.), provided design-build services for the renovation of a 14,000 square foot facility into the new Stormwater Management Division offices for Cobb County. The existing interior and systems were completely removed and replaced with modern architectural finishes and energy-efficient mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems. The new facility includes offices, administrative areas, a gymnasium, locker rooms, and restrooms.
- [North Cobb Senior Center](https://albiongc.com/project/north-cobb-senior-center/): Cobb County awarded Albion, in partnership with architectural firm Croft and Associates, the renovation and expansion of the North Cobb Senior Center. The center served as the first combination multipurpose and neighborhood center in the area. The project consisted of the renovation and expansion of the pre-existing center with its lodge-like design. This concept was retained while we gave the existing floor plan a complete overhaul. The addition of a one-story building adjacent to the current building complements the overall look and feel while adding a dynamic new space.
- [Department of Driver Services](https://albiongc.com/project/department-of-driver-services/): The design/build duo of Albion and CPL are joining forces to create a new Customer Service Center for the Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) in Bogart, Oconee County, GA. The new Center will feature administrative offices, customer service kiosks, testing areas, and driving skill test courses for both automobiles and motorcycles. Having previously worked together on a successful design-build project for the Switzer Library in Cobb County, GA, the Albion/CPL team’s proven expertise and established partnership were crucial in securing this project. Additionally, CPL Creative Labs’ design visualization played an important role in the proposal.
- [North Georgia Welcome Centers](https://albiongc.com/project/north-georgia-welcome-centers/): This project, undertaken for the Georgia Department of Transportation, involved renovating four Welcome Centers located in North Georgia: Tallapoosa, Ringgold, Lavonia, and Augusta. The primary renovation activities included the installation of new mechanical systems in the Ringgold, Lavonia, and Augusta locations. Additionally, a new shingle roof was installed at the Lavonia center. An air handler was replaced at the Augusta location, and new controls were added. Furthermore, new chillers were installed in both Ringgold and Lavonia.
- [Department of Juvenile Justice Housing Renovation](https://albiongc.com/project/department-of-juvenile-justice-housing-renovation/): Albion converted an existing vacant youth detention center into a modern SEC-housing facility. The 12,500 SF renovation scope included the addition of several sleeping rooms, a residential kitchen, a general community area, classrooms, and restrooms. Additionally, major upgrades to the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems were completed. As well as an impressive advanced access control system and closed captioning system were installed. These additions are part of the security measures across the entire building.
- [State Employee Wellness Center](https://albiongc.com/project/state-employee-wellness-center/): The scope of this project consisted of transforming a 10,000 square foot, old cafeteria space and into a state-of-the-art fitness center for all State of Georgia employees. Employees now have 24-hour access to the gym facilities.

The goal of the project was to provide a fresh updated space for the relocation of Department of Health staff members.

- [Georgia State University Library North](https://albiongc.com/project/gsu-library-north/): Albion was selected as the construction manager to convert Georgia State University’s existing grade-level parking lot, located beneath the Library North building, into a new world-class study and collaboration space for the students. This unique project consisted of a renovation to the existing GSU Library North facility by transforming an existing parking garage located beneath the building into an 18,500 SF study space and collaborative environment for students and faculty to enjoy.
- [Northwest Classical Academy](https://albiongc.com/project/northwest-classical-academy/): Albion, in partnership with Croft and Associates, provided Construction Management at Risk services for the Northwest Classical Academy in Kennesaw, Georgia. The project included a 16,500 sq. ft. addition to the Upper School wing, featuring seven classrooms, science labs, and office spaces, along with interior renovations transforming the media center into multipurpose space. Despite an unexpected five-week shutdown for state testing, Albion kept the project on schedule and budget. We successfully navigated tight timelines for ordering alternate rooftop units and coordinated daily work around school operations. To minimize disruption, we relocated the drive lane used for student drop-off and scheduled material deliveries around school hours, ensuring smooth operations throughout construction.
- [Atlanta Humane Society Arthur Blank Family Animal Center](https://albiongc.com/project/atlanta-humane-society-headquarters/): In 2020, Albion was chosen as the Program Manager for the new Atlanta Humane Society Headquarters. Albion quickly completed the remediation of the new brownfield site and was honored with the first-place 2021 AGC Build Georgia Award for their efforts in this remediation. Following these site remediation efforts, Albion was selected as the Design-Builder for the new 40,000 SF headquarters facility for the Atlanta Humane Society. Designed to support the organization’s century-long mission in Atlanta, the Arthur M. Blank Family Animal Center offers a state-of-the-art environment that meets both the operational and care-focused needs of AHS.
- [Queens University Student Center](https://albiongc.com/project/queens-university-student-center/): Albion has successfully completed renovations on the Student Center at Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina. This summer project involved renovating 10,859 square feet of the university’s central hub for students: the Trexler Student Center. The enhancements included a complete overhaul of the food court area, which now features a new dining experience with four micro-restaurants, specialty chefs, and expanded seating areas. The four micro-restaurants are Royal Bistro, Mecklenburger, QC Pizzeria, and The Market.
- [UNG Observatory](https://albiongc.com/project/ung-observatory/): Albion collaborated with Warren Epstein and Associates on a Design Build project to replace the existing Observatory on the University of North Georgia’s Dahlonega campus.
- [Georgia State University Alpharetta Labs](https://albiongc.com/project/gsu-alpharetta-labs/): Albion was chosen as the General Contractor for the construction of a new building at Georgia State University’s Alpharetta campus. In collaboration with CGLS Architects, who provided the design, the team created a new facility featuring two biology laboratories and two chemistry laboratories, complete with laboratory preparation rooms. This much-needed lab space eliminates the necessity for students to travel off-site for graduation-required lab work.
- [KSU College of Arts](https://albiongc.com/project/ksu-college-of-arts/): Albion partnered with Kennesaw State University to collaborate on the buildout for the KSU College of the Arts (COTA).
- [Atlanta Motorsports Park Kart Racing Center](https://albiongc.com/project/atlanta-motorsports-park-kart-racing-center/): Albion served as Construction Manager-at-Risk for Atlanta Motorsports Park’s new 51,000-square-foot clubhouse and Kart Racing Center in Dawsonville, Georgia. The two-story clubhouse provides panoramic views of the track and includes offices, meeting spaces, showrooms, and guest amenities designed to enhance the overall visitor experience.
- [Southwest DeKalb High School](https://albiongc.com/project/southwest-dekalb-high-school/): Albion was proud to be selected as the General Contractor through a Proposal-Based Selection for the renovation of a 33,000 square foot building. This two-story structure had been vacated due to environmental concerns and required a complete overhaul to meet current standards. The project involved extensive abatement on both floors, followed by the replacement of the HVAC chiller and all ductwork. Additionally, new branch electrical wiring and lighting were installed, along with new plumbing lines for the reconfigured restrooms, a new fire sprinkler system, and new windows.
- [North Clayton High School](https://albiongc.com/project/north-clayton-high-school/): Albion was chosen to lead the major renovation of the oldest school in Clayton County, originally built in 1937. The renovation involved installing new lighting, HVAC systems, plumbing, fire alarms, intercom systems, security systems, flooring, and both interior and exterior paint. Additionally, the gym was re-roofed, replaced the lockers, added canopies and walkways, and resurfaced the track. This project required the removal of all existing mechanical, electrical, lighting, and ceiling systems, allowing an install of new state-of-the-art systems. Albion exceeded the owner’s expectations by shortening the project schedule from 8 months to just 4 months, all without compromising on quality.
- [Redan High School](https://albiongc.com/project/redan-high-school/): Albion was chosen to oversee the renovation of a 150,000 square foot school facility. The project included several key updates: replacing flooring and painting throughout the entire school, updating casework and plumbing in the laboratories, and upgrading the lighting, audio/visual equipment, and stage curtains in the auditorium. Additionally, lighting and shelving was replaced in the library, and a new CMU block storage building was constructed, complete with all necessary utilities.
- [GT Pylon Signage](https://albiongc.com/project/gt-pylon-signage/): Albion, in partnership with JE Dunn, has successfully completed the Georgia Tech Pylon Signage project located at the intersection of Northside Drive and 10th Streets on the Georgia Institute of Technology campus in Atlanta, GA.
- [American Classical Academy Rutherford](https://albiongc.com/project/american-classical-academy-rutherford/): Albion has been chosen as the Construction Manager for a modest renovation of approximately 25,000 square feet in a two-story building located at 2 Ingram Boulevard, La Vergne, Tennessee. This renovation is intended to transform the building into the new school for American Classical Academy Rutherford (ACAR).
- [Atlanta Unbound Academy](https://albiongc.com/project/atlanta-unbound-academy/): Albion General Contractors provided construction management services for the Phase 01 renovation of a 27,000 square foot, two-story building located at 1025 McDonough Blvd. in Atlanta, Georgia. This renovation involved converting an existing church facility into a new school for Atlanta Unbound Academy (AUA). The successful completion of Phase 01 of this fast-tracked project has enabled AUA to operate with 18 standard classrooms, a kitchen and cafeteria, offices, workrooms, a conference room, storage, updated restrooms, and other support spaces.
- [Excelsior Village Academies](https://albiongc.com/project/excelsior-village-academies/): Albion has been chosen to provide Design-Build services for the Excelsior Village Academies in Stockbridge, Georgia. Alongside their design partners, Warren, Epstein & Associates, Albion is responsible for transforming the former Grace Summit Church into a functional and usable space for the charter school. The project, which spans 32,784 square feet, will undergo minimal renovations of approximately 13,500 square feet in the first year to accommodate 180 students.
- [UWG Murphy Building Renovations](https://albiongc.com/project/uwg-murphy-building-renovations/): The Murphy Building renovation at the University of West Georgia was an extensive project consisting of four major facets including renovations and upgrades to the second floor of the building, the E-campus sector, the exterior, and miscellaneous aspects of the interior. Despite facing the challenges of a consistently occupied building and the loss of two and a half months of the schedule, the Albion team went above and beyond to be an advocate for the University and bring their vision to life. The project consisted of two unique attributes: the blending of the Mitsubishi VRF system and the control panel provided by Automated Logic and the ‘NanaWall’ installed on the third floor of the building.
- [Georgia World Congress Center](https://albiongc.com/project/georgia-world-congress-center/): Albion, in collaboration with the design firm Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc., has been selected to provide design-build construction services for the Georgia World Congress Center Authority and the Georgia State Financing and Investment Commission. The project involves replacing the roof at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA. The aim is to ensure that the facility functions as intended and remains in good operating condition.The area designated for replacement spans approximately 1,500,000 square feet of total surface area. This project entails the removal and demolition of the existing roof and insulation down to the metal decking. We will install R-20 polyisocyanurate insulation and a fully adhered polyester-reinforced 80-mil thick KEE modified PVC membrane using a low-VOC adhesive system.Additionally, we will install new 24-gauge Kynar-finished steel copings, along with walkways and protection pads for all rooftop equipment. Our team will disconnect and reconnect mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems as required to perform the work in compliance with code and manufacturer specifications.
- [Atlanta Motorsports Park Business Center](https://albiongc.com/project/atlanta-motorsports-park-business-center/): Albion served as Construction Manager at Risk for the project, successfully completing the ground-up construction of the Atlanta Motorsports Park’s (AMP) new 20,000-square-foot clubhouse in Dawsonville, Georgia. This two-story clubhouse offers panoramic views of the race track and includes offices, conference rooms, showrooms, and a snack bar. Notably, the project was completed on time, within budget, and with an outstanding safety record, even in the face of severe weather delays.
- [GT Boggs](https://albiongc.com/project/gt-boggs/): Albion was the construction manager for a fast-paced renovation project at Georgia Tech, one of our esteemed higher education clients. Our team oversaw the interior renovations of two auditoriums in the Boggs Chemistry Building. This work included the removal of hazardous materials and the installation of new walls, seating, lighting, and more. Throughout this project, Albion implemented and adhered to strict safety procedures to ensure the well-being of the construction team, as well as the students and faculty, during the busy summer schedule when the building was occupied.

- [KSU Chick-fil-A Restaurants](https://albiongc.com/project/ksu-chick-fil-a-restaurants/): Albion served as the Construction Manager at Risk for the renovation of two Chick-fil-A restaurants located on the main campus and the Marietta campus of Kennesaw State University. Both projects required a quick turnaround. The scope of work for each location included complete interior demolition, the installation of new wall layouts, flooring, a fire alarm system, and a sprinkler system. Additionally, all plumbing, gas lines, electrical systems, and HVAC units were replaced.
- [Columbus Tech Pratt Whitney Center](https://albiongc.com/project/columbus-tech-pratt-whitney-center/): Albion, along with Clark Patterson Lee, completed the design/build and renovation of an existing 20,084 SF facility to support a prominent international designer and manufacturer of service aircraft engines and auxiliary power units. The project was a partnership between the Governor’s Office of the State of Georgia, the Georgia Department of Labor’s Quick Start Program, the Technical College System of Georgia and Columbus Technical College. The existing building was renovated accommodate onboarding and training for hourly, contract and salaried employees of the manufacturer. The project goals included sustainable design and construction strategies with a goal of base certification under the Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Construction Act (“Georgia Peach”) rating system.
- [GPTC Regional Transportation Training Center](https://albiongc.com/project/gptc-regional-transportation-training-center/): Albion is working closely with GPTC to create a new Regional Transportation Training Center on their TCSG’s Marbut Road campus. The project scope includes the construction of a new facility referred to as Building A and the renovation of an existing facility referred to as Building B.

This project involved the construction of a 4,000-square-foot, one-story, two-bay prefabricated metal building. The new DOT facility will accommodate employees and serve as a storage space for equipment and materials.
- [Forsyth County Water & Sewer Maintenance Warehouse](https://albiongc.com/project/forsyth-county-warehouse/): Albion is offering construction services for Forsyth County, Georgia, to build a new 20,000 square foot warehouse for the Water and Sewer Department. This pre-engineered metal building will include office space, a storage mezzanine, and high-bay storage to complement the existing facility on-site.
- [Douglas County DOT Maintenance Facility](https://albiongc.com/project/douglas-county-dot-maintenance-facility/): Albion, in partnership with design lead Wendel Companies, is delivering this ground-up Design-Build facility to serve both office staff and field personnel for the Douglas County Department of Transportation. This highly collaborative project reflects our team’s ability to seamlessly integrate planning, design, and construction in coordination with County leadership.
- [Columbus Tech Welding Lab](https://albiongc.com/project/columbus-tech-welding-lab/): Albion, in partnership with architectural firm Clark Patterson Lee, was selected as the Design-Build firm for the renovation of Columbus Technical College’s world-class welding lab. Albion was responsible for a scope of work that included renovations to the facility’s flooring, walls, ceiling, electrical system, lighting, pneumatics, HVAC and more. We also removed existing welding booths and installed 36 new welding booths. Our partner in the project, Clark Patterson Lee managed the architectural and engineering components.
- [Augusta University Ceramics Lab](https://albiongc.com/project/augusta-university-ceramics-lab/): Albion was selected as the Construction Manager at-Risk through a Qualifications Based Selection to lead this 12,444 sq. ft. renovation. This building was formerly Warehouse #202 which is located on the Summerville campus and is home to the Art and Physics Departments ceramics lab.
